SCOA Awards at the 2023 National Specialty

THE AWARD OF RECOGNITION: Awarded to the Spinone Dam or Sire that has produced offspring of significance to the breed. This award is based on the accomplishments of direct offspring only. Performance and titles in NAVHDA and AKC events will be considered.

THE TY AWARD! In recognition of a Spinone that demonstrates exceptional performance in three or more areas of activity. Performance in NAVHDA and AKC field events, plus AKC conformation, obedience, rally, agility, tracking, therapy, fly ball, etc. shall be considered when evaluating performance for this award. Only NAVHDA, AKC, or Therapy (TDI or other documentation) titles will be considered. This award is not bound by the previous calendar year and can be awarded for a lifetime of achievement.

THE COS CUP - In recognition of the ultimate companion dog. The committee will rely upon detailed nominations and testimonies to determine the Spinone that most typifies the “best Spinone to hang out with.” This award is not bound by the previous calendar year and can be awarded for a lifetime of achievement.

THE RUFUS AWARD: In recognition of the Spinone demonstrating exceptional performance in both the field and conformation ring. Only NAVHDA and AKC field performance shall be considered. Candidates must have both a qualifying NAVHDA Utility level score and an AKC SH or MH title, plus be an AKC conformation Champion. This award is not bound by the previous calendar year and can be awarded for a lifetime of achievement.

ASTI’S COMPASSION - This trophy is awarded in recognition of Asti’s career and the efforts of those special therapy Spinone who follow in his giant paw prints, the compassion Asti spent his life sharing as he lifted the human spirit of those in need. This award is not bound by the previous calendar year and can be awarded for a lifetime of achievement.

"August" GCH CH Sweetbriar's Jelato in Agosto BN RN JH THD CGC, TDI, Owned and loved by Patricia McNamara-Vannoni.

THE KEMO AWARD! In recognition of the top performance in the field during the previous calendar year by a Spinone Italiano. Only NAVHDA and AKC field performance will be considered.

"Louie" GCH CH Penny Lane's Hero Braveheart MH CGC, NAVHDA UT1, Owned and loved by Erin Dunn and Ted Wentink.

Volunteer of the Year Award: “Awarded to the club member epitomizing the spirit of volunteerism to benefit the breed and club. It is in recognition of the ultimate SCOA volunteer. This individual has made a significant contribution to SCOA.” This award is not limited to the previous calendar year.
