Fascinating fact: Dogs have a sense of smell that’s between 10,000 and 100,000 times more acute than ours! The sport of Scent Work celebrates the joy of sniffing and asks a dog to sniff to their heart’s content, turning your dog’s favorite activity into a rewarding game. It is a terrific sport for all kinds of dogs and is a wonderful way to build confidence in a shy dog.

In so many dog sports the handler is in control, but this isn’t true in Scent Work. Neither the dog nor handler knows where the target odor is hidden. The handler has to rely on the dog and follow the dog’s nose to success. In Scent Work, it is the canine who is the star of the show.Details to follow.

  • Turn those Spinone noses on!!! Throughout the event venue, indoors and outdoors your Spinone can find pheasant, quail and chucker wings.  Bring your Spinone with the found wing to Chuck Forry and choose a brown bag Prize.  Many opportunities to find more than just one wing!

  • Red Neck agility at the 2025 National was a huge hit… well it’s back by popular demand but with a Colorado twist, bring your Spinone for a fun time!  It’s a stampede you won’t want to miss!

  • Come join us following Obedience & Rally for a great time at the Welcome Reception, have a few drinks enjoy some Pizza, Salad and Dessert.   Cash bar on site.

This event will be judged by three judges. All dogs will be scored. The dog with the highest accumulation will be the winner, there will also be a “Peoples” choice winner by popular vote.

Enjoy watching this Salute to the Spinone at your ringside dining table. What a fun way to celebrate Spinone, watch entrants, visit with friends …. Cash bar on site.

  • You already know that your puppy is the absolute cutest. So why not share his adorableness with the rest of the world? Enter him in an AKC 4-6 Month Beginner Puppy Competition. It’s a relaxed, stress-free way to make your debut in the dog show world.

  • While children younger than five cannot participate in the Pee Wee Class Special Attraction, a club may want to offer other Special Attractions to engage children. Some clubs offer a special attraction which allows children (including those younger than five) to “show” their stuffed/toy dogs

  • SCOA Breeder Education Committee is offering an opportunity learn  more about the Spinone structure and how to correctly measure your Spinone. This event will focus on size, proportion, and proper measuring techniques that breeders can use to evaluate their dogs. A short presentation will be followed by hands-on practice session on your measuring skills. Bring your dog.

  • Have you ever watched an agility trial and wondered how those dogs did that?  It’s fun times for you and your dog as you learn a bit about agility and try out a few of the fun things the sport offers.  Bring tons of small treats – dogs love the paychecks as they do the “work” – and get ready to have fun and be amazed at what you and your dog can do! Bring your dog!

  • SCOA's Bylaws require an annual business meeting in conjunction with the National and Parent Specialty Shows and other events, seminars, and hunt tests. The primary purpose is to review the past year's activities, assess progress towards the organization's mission, and plan for the future. If there is a quorum present (10% of the membership), motions can be brought to the floor for discussion and voting. When there is no quorum, it is still a chance for open discussion among members and the Board. Because our members are dispersed over the entire country, the meeting -- along with other events at the National -- is always an opportunity to have your voice heard and to hear from other members. The Board takes any input seriously and will work to incorporate what is learned at the meeting into the Club's operations.
