Please Welcome our New Membership Secretary!

We are very pleased to announce that Jenny Huizinga has joined SCOA’s board as our Membership Secretary. Jenny was appointed to the position by the board, based on her excellent blend of organizational, technical and interpersonal skills. She lives in Tigard, Oregon with her partner, Jake, and her two kids Carter (10) and Maeve (8), and her three dogs.

Jenny has one Spinone, named Boo, who is three years old, participates in conformation, and is a registered therapy dog with Pet Partners. Boo has his CGC and Trick Dog Novice titles as well. Her dog family is rounded out by Walter, a two-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (also a therapy dog), and Remy, a one-year-old Clumber Spaniel who competes in conformation and is also now a therapy dog.

Jenny has worked for 13 years as a Legal Operations Sr. Manager for Nike, where she helps the legal department purchase, set up, and use legal technologies. She is experienced with managing users and access issues, user databases, troubleshooting technical issues, and producing reports for diverse audiences. Before that, she worked for six years as a veterinary receptionist; she works with both dogs and people! Jenny also volunteers as an evaluator for new or renewing therapy animal teams for Pet Partners in the Portland area.

Jenny has been working with Frank Leatherbury for the past month to ensure a smooth transition as he finishes up the renewal period with the new (and improved) membership system. For those of you who haven’t already met her, she’ll be at our upcoming Annual Meeting (and the Nationals) in Greely Colorado in May, and is looking forward to getting to know you all!
